ms.lee! ms.lee! ms.lee!

ah~ the sounds of students. my kids from 1st grade are back with me. the first days of school felt not like the first days of school. it felt like they just came back to me after winter break. i know them so well, and they know me well. are their antics, their personalities, the things they (still) need to work on... i love my kids! it'll be a year full of stories! they're sooo smart! in math, especially, wow. they're turning into great authors, too. i can't wait to see how they'll turn out at the end of this school year. =)

so, i've continued all the adjunct duties and positions as i have last year (which were to many). and of course, instead of taking things off my plate, i added on more. am i crazy? don't answer. in addition to last year, i've joined a korean drumming troupe. i'm also more active in the orgs i'm in as well as the ones i support as an ally. have attended more meetings... just in the first two weeks alone i went to 3 rallies/marches.

tomorrow, though, is the mother of them all. i'm participating for the first time in a civil disobedience action. i'm a little afraid, but i fully believe in the cause, speaking up and taking a stance on immigrant workers rights. the hotels around LAX are some of the worst in labor practices, so we're shutting down the streets. i'm going to get arrested, along with about 350 others for failing to disperse in a riot location. we'll be sitting back-to-back in the street. we're practicing nonviolence and not resist arrest. i went to a training on monday nite, learned about my legal rights and whatnot. and well, it's on! i'm just worried about when i'll get out of jail/the holding cell. it could be 10pm, 1am, or 6 am... who knows. but i just know i need to make it back home so i can show up to teach the next day.

those who understand the struggle, wish me luck! TOOJENG! STRUGGLE!
