SPRING BREAK~!!!!
Saturday to Monday. LAKE HAVASU, AZ
my 11 friends and jason and i left for lake havasu at 6:30 am on Saturday morning, stopping over at El Centro in Imperial Valley. had to grab breakfast, but the weird part? ran into dave beza at the same plaza we were stopped over at. talk about weird coincidences... to be there at the exact same time and place of all the places we could've been. after that we resumed course and headed onward to lake havasu!! we had tons of fun "carpooling" in a "caravan" of 4 cars (later on 5 cars total after meeting up with two of our other friends). and of course, each car was equipped with walkies once again =)
when we got to Crazy Horse Campgrounds at lake havasu around 1pm or so mountain time, we made camp, pitched our tents, and began cooking our first meal: spaghetti for 15!! the place was a huge island, and just sand and rocks everywhere overlooking the lake. all around us hundreds of other college students had already claimed their spaces (and drunkenness). jason had great fun pretending that his suv was made for off-roading... oy~ u can only imagine... and since his grandmother lives in lake havasu city (just minutes from the campground), we went to go to visit her for a bit. when we got back to camp, we went to check out london bridge and the life just below it. oh my goodness the party craze... drunk people, college kids in an endless sea of boats, girls gone wild ppl running amuck, people flashing this way and that for mardi gras beads, very scantily clad others everywhere u look... and here we were, a group of conservatively dressed mostly-asians wandering through the scene. we made our way back to our campsite and bbq'd shiskabobs to our hearts' content. =) i ate SOO MUCH MEAT during the whole trip. we just made our fire and had fun being pyros, drinking and just enjoying ourselves. we were about to get our butts back down to london bridge to party, but we decided to go the following day instead. my roommate made me laugh so hard because his comments are so random and hilarious that my drink came up out of my nose. lovely, no?
SUNDAY
the following day we woke up bright and early to prep ourselves for a day of jet skiing! might i add that i ended up staying at jason's grandma's place with him after a nice shower. how could i resist? we met up with everyone else in the morning for breakfast: eggs and bacon, then headed over to the waters to try our hands at jet skiing. we rented out 4 skis, three 2-seaters and one 3-seater. we took our turns and had the most amazing fun... at least for me. i've never gone before, but jason has. when we got on he literally jetted right out and freaked me out. within time i got used to the feeling and the speed, and was soon craving the speed myself. of course, men being men, he was showing off and was doing some crazy shit at quite an accelerated speed.. and both of usflew off and into the water. that being one of my worst fears, i was lil upset but not really. i told him what a show off he was and he cast me his boyish look and replied, "i know." how could i be mad at him? =) all 15 of us rotated our turns for taking out the skis. while we were on shore, we just had ourselves a picnic with sandwiches, sunbathed (my bourgeios word for tanning), and had water fights. it was very relaxing and very spring-break like. makes up for all the other spring breaks that i spend headed north in the mountains and snow.. =) later that nite, we came back and cooked dinner and had ourselves more meat: hamburgers and hotdogs and more skewers. what carnivores we are... we planned on checkin out the party scene again, but we discovered that there WASN'T one that nite. it turned out that all the locals had just ended their spring breaks, which accounted for why ppl were partying so hard that saturday and then everyone seemed to be gone on sunday. so, we ended up just chilling at our campsite once again, playing our childish games and drinking, being merry, being lost, and of course being experimental pyros. =) and yes, i did stay in the tent that nite while jason went back to his cozy bed at his grandma's. i should go camping more often. =) oh but did i mention my red ant bite? =*( janet no happy from that.
MONDAY
the next morning we packed up all our things and cleaned up what we could. talk about left over food and creativity. one of my friends, kevin, had a bat with him. and what do u suppose boy would do with a bat and leftover eggs, onions, tomatoes, lime, potatoes, what have u? that's right. of course, i couldn't possibly let the guys have all the fun, so i had to try my hand at it as well. hehe... =) after cleaning up, i realized we were in the middle of spring break transition. while the first wave of spring-breakers left and the new wave was coming in (and a lot of em, at that, along with a freakin carnival), that's when we got there. but it's ok, i still had lotsa fun! and now i fear i have picked up another new expensive hobby - jet skiing. when i make enough, i vow to buy my own. at any rate, we all went hiking after cleaning up. i got directions to a hiking trail, but not exactly. we drove in to Sara Park, just a few miles from our camp, and just kinda parked and started hiking. hehe... we hiked for several miles, finding out that it wasn't such a boring trail afterall. we rock climbed, made our way through narrow canyons, slid down rocks, saw a tarantula, sang songs, the boys tried to move a huge ass boulder down a cliff that they only wished they could move in their dreams. hahaha.. that was too funny. but all in all, i miss hiking a great deal. my dad and my brother and i used to go all the time when i was younger... i'm very glad we all got to go.
we bid adieu to lake havasu and set our destination forth to vegas, baby! we stopped over at hoover dam to check it out. since i had just been there in january, it wasn't anything splendiferous. when we got to vegas we checked into Mandalay Bay. while everyone else got settled in, jason and i went to Paris and stood in line for the $21.95 dinner buffet. =P yes, a lot of money and a great deal of waiting. turned out they couldn't even seat all of us together anyway, those poops. after i got my fill of seafood and french desserts, jason and i had to make our way back home. we said our goodbyes, and everyone else went back to club at rumjungle which i hear is a really good club. tomorrow they've got plans to swim in mandalay bay's awesome swimming pool/lagoon thingie, then head on back to san diego. i'm quite tired, but in retrospect i'm very glad i got to spend my last undergrad spring break with a good number of my friends. save for a few incidents that irked me, namely things that occur when ppl are not being team-players, the whole of the trip i would assign two thumbs up and a big fat smiley face. =) and now i am quite noticeably tanned... thanx guys for such an awesome trip!!! =) *hugs*
