one of our classroom pet hermit crabs died this past week. it was the first time that we experienced a death together. i was so horrified when i discovered that Equity died. i don't know how or why she died. in any case, we went together to the back of the school to the Peace Garden and found a spot to bury her in the ground. my kids were very dignified and mature as we took care of everything. i told them that maybe after a while Sandy will want a new friend, and that i would go to the pet store to find another hermit crab.
